2.2. Comments and whitespace
Outside tokens, spaces and newlines are insignificant except as separators. Both comment forms are supported:
// line comment /* block comment */
Block comments end at the first */; they do not nest. A tab encountered as inter-token
whitespace is a parse error. CRLF line endings are accepted between tokens, but an isolated
carriage return there is not. Characters inside a string, a comment, or a pipe-quoted identifier
are token content and are not subject to this whitespace check.
